Funds You Need Upon Arrival

While still on the plane, you will receive a two-part form to fill out that will act as your temporary visa while in Peru.  When you pass through immigration, your passport will be stamped and you will get one section of the form back.  Do not lose the form. Keep it with your passport as you will need it when you leave Peru.

Once you collect your luggage and pass through customs, you will enter the waiting area of the airport and the scene will be crowded and chaotic. If you have arranged in advance for someone from the mission or a travel agent to meet you at the airport they should be there and will identify themselves, usually by holding a sign with your name on it.  If for some reason there is no one to meet you (whether by your choice or an unforeseen complications), you can take a taxi to the hotel.  Always determine what the fare will be before you get in the taxi. If Peruvian currency is needed you can exchange money in the airport prior to getting a taxi. If you need to hire a taxi, be aware that taxis come in all models and colors. Look for a small red sticker on the windshield, which indicates a driver is licensed.
