The following estimates are based upon the most recent information available. However, they are estimates only and Los Amigos cannot be held responsible for variations in actual vs. estimated expenses. We hope this information will help you in your planning but please be prepared for unexpected or varying costs.
Note that several items are "per day” or "one-way.” Also, expenses may vary if you travel alone or are part of a group. For example, groups over 10 often receive flight discounts.
A donation of $8.00 per day per visitor is requested so that the costs of feeding and housing you in the mission compound can be covered. When visitors do not pay this expense, the cost is covered by the Los Amigos operating budget, reducing the funds that can be devoted to Los Amigos programs and services in Chimbote. If you are part of a group, it is ideal if you can send a check to cover your groups’ room and board costs in advance to: Los Amigos del Padre Juan, PO Box 717, West Fargo, ND 58078. Please send your check a minimum of 3 weeks in advance of your arrival date, and indicate on the check what it is for. The funds will then be wired to the mission in advance so that beds, blankets, food, etc may be purchased and ready for you when you arrive. Smaller groups or individuals may opt to pay the room and board fee when in Chimbote. This donation can be made directly to Fr. Jack or Sr. Peggy and can be paid in US dollars or in Peruvian soles.
